How Does Potassium Balance Sodium?
Potassium may help counter sodium’s effect on blood pressure, so potassium-rich foods are worth having alongside eating less salt.[1]

Potassium may help counter sodium's effect on blood pressure[1]
Higher potassium intakes may help lower blood pressure, in part by widening blood vessels and increasing the sodium lost in urine; the effect may be largest in people who are salt-sensitive.
Potassium-rich foods (fruit, vegetables, legumes, dairy) may help lower blood pressure, alongside eating less sodium.
